Alamosa, Colo. - The Adams State Softball team played their first doubleheader of their four game series versus Chadron State College on Saturday. The first game ended 8-9 and the second game ended 5-15, both in favor of Chadron State. The Grizzlies move to 5-42 on the season and 3-35 in RMAC play.
The Grizzlies also celebrated three seniors today, Mariah Madrid, Belinda Vargas, and Kaia Bradford.
Game 1 - Chadron State 9, Adams State 8
Chadron State was the first on the board with 3 runs in the second inning and 2 more to follow in the third. The Grizzlies answered in the third inning scoring 2 runs of their own, but would be scoreless till a huge 6 run sixth inning. Chandon State added to their total with 3 runs in the fifth inning, putting it just out of reach for the Grizzlies. The game ended 9-8 in favor of Chadron State.
The Grizzlies had 8 runs on 13 hits from 35 at bats compared to Chadron State's 9 runs on 10 hits and 31 at bats.
Game 2 - Chadron State 15, Adams State 5
Chadron State was the first on the board in the second game too, scoring 10 runs in the second inning. The Grizzlies would go on to score 4 in the second inning as well, but Chadron added to their lead scoring 4 more runs in the very next inning. Both the Grizzlies and the Eagles would score 1 more run each, making the final score 15-5 in favor of the Eagles, after five innings.
The Grizzlies had 5 runs on 4 hits from 20 at bats compared to Chadron State's 15 runs on 12 hits and 27 at bats.
