Grizzlies Sweep Mountain Lions on Day One of Double Header

Alamosa, Colo. - The Adams State baseball team played their first two games of their four game series versus the University of Colorado Colorado Springs on Friday. The games ended 7-6 and 10-8 both in favor of the Grizzlies. This game brings the Grizzlies to 21-23 on the season and 16-10 in RMAC play. 

Adams State 7, UCCS 6

UCCS was the first on the board scoring 1 run in the first inning, but the Grizzlies would fire right back in the second inning, scoring 1 run of their own. UCCS would also score 1 run in the third inning, then in the fourth inning the Grizzlies would score 3 runs, while Colorado Springs would score 4 more runs. That would be the end of scoring for UCCS though. The Grizzlies would go on to score 1 run in the sixth inning and 2 in the eighth inning to put them on top. The game would end 7-6 in favor of the Grizzlies. 

The Grizzlies had 7 runs on 13 hits from 38 at bats compared to UCCS' 6 runs on 10 hits and 35 at bats. 

Adams State 10, UCCS 8

The Grizzlies were the first on the board in game two, scoring 2 runs in the first inning and 1 run in the third inning. UCCS would then go back and forth with the Grizzlies, scoring 1 run in third and fourth innings and 5 runs in the fifth inning. The Grizzlies would score 1 run in the fourth and fifth innings and then would score 5 more runs in the last two innings combined. UCCS would only score 1 more run in the sixth inning and the game would end 10-8 in favor of the Grizzlies. 

The Grizzlies had 10 runs on 17  hits from 37 at bats compared to UCCS' 8 runs on 10 hits and 28 at bats. 

Next Up

Due to weather, the Grizzlies will be back in action Sunday starting at 12:00pm  for their third and fourth games of their series against UCCS in Colorado Springs, Colo.
