Ninth Inning Rally Falls Short in Series Opener Against the Orediggers

Alamosa, Colo. - The Adams State baseball team played their first game of their four game series versus Colorado School of Mines on Friday. The game ended 10-13 in favor of Mines. This brings the Grizzlies record to 14-17 on the season and 9-4 in RMAC play.

CSM 13, Adams State 10

Adams State were the first on the board with 2 runs in the first inning; however, Mines would strike right back with 4 runs of their own. The Grizzlies would then be scoreless through the fourth inning and Mines would rally in the bottom of the fourth scoring 5 runs. Through four innings the score was 10-2 in favor of Mines, but the Grizzlies were not going to give up. In the top of the fifth inning the Grizzlies scored another run, yet Mines matched the 1 run in the bottom of the inning. The game was then scoreless again until the eighth inning, where Mines would score 2 more runs, making the score 13-3. The game was far from over at this point though and the Grizzlies rallied, scoring 7 points in the top of the ninth inning.  Although 10 runs was not enough, Adams State will carry a lot of momentum coming into the double header on Saturday.

The Grizzlies had 10 runs on 12 hits from 38 at bats compared to CSM's 13 runs on 12 hits and 34 at bats.
