Grizzlies Split Day 1 Doubleheader Against Mountain Lions

Alamosa, Colo. - The Adams State Softball team played their first doubleheader of their four game series versus UCCS on Friday. The first game ended 6-7 in favor of UCCS and the second game ended 8-7 in favor of Adams State. The Grizzlies move to 5-34 on the season and 3-27 in RMAC play. 

 

Game 1 - UCCS 7, Adams State 6

The game was scoreless until the third inning, where the Grizzlies were the first on the board with 2 runs and UCCS did not score until the bottom of the fourth inning, where they scored 3 runs of their own. The Grizzlies then answered right back in the fifth inning, scoring 2 more runs; however, in the final two innings the Grizzlies were outscored 4-2, bringing this close game to an end in favor of UCCS 7-6. 

 

The Grizzlies had 6 runs on 10 hits from 31 at bats compared to UCCS's 7 runs on 10 hits and 28 at bats. 

 

Game 2 - Adams State 8, UCCS 7

The Grizzlies were the first on the board with 2 runs scored in the top of the first inning, but Colorado Springs answered back with 1 run of their own. The game was then scoreless for three straight innings. The Grizzlies then got back on the board with 2 more runs in the top of the fifth inning, but UCCS answered right back again, with 2 runs of their own. The Grizzlies then scored 3 more runs in the top of the sixth and 1 run in the top of the seventh, putting it just out of reach for UCCS, who scored 4 runs in the bottom of the seventh. 

 

The Grizzlies had 8 runs on 8 hits from 31 at bats compared to UCCS's 7 runs on 9 hits and 31 at bats. 


Next Up

The Grizzlies will be back in action Saturday to face UCCS in their second straight double header.
