Alamosa, Colo. – In a hard-fought match at the ASU Soccer & Lacrosse Field on Sunday afternoon, Adams State University played Colorado Christian University to a 1-1 draw. Despite trailing early, the Grizzlies managed to claw their way back to earn a valuable point.
Colorado Christian struck first in the 15th minute when Dylan Hall found the back of the net, assisted by Gabe Roloff, giving the Cougars a 1-0 lead. Despite the early setback, Adams State responded by increasing the pressure, particularly in the second half.
Adams State's persistence paid off in the 82nd minute when Avery Richards equalized, thanks to an assist from Kaidin Reese. This goal marked Richards' first of the season and helped the Grizzlies avoid a home defeat.
Goalkeeper JP Fernandez had a standout performance for Adams State, making five saves to keep the game level, while Colorado Christian's Jailon Gillespie recorded four saves of his own.
The match saw its share of physical play, with Adams State committing 13 fouls compared to Colorado Christian's three. Both teams were issued yellow cards, with Leonardo Villacorta of Adams State receiving one in the 67th minute.
With the draw, Adams State moves to a record of 2-3-1. The Grizzlies will be back on the road next Sunday when they will face Colorado Christian again to open RMAC play.
