Adams State Falls to Lubbock Christian 2-0 in Women's Soccer

Lubbock, Texas – The Adams State Grizzlies(0-1-1) struggled to find their offensive rhythm in a 2-0 loss to Lubbock Christian University (1-0-1) at the LCU Soccer & Track Complex on Saturday.

The Grizzlies conceded both goals in the first half. Lubbock Christian's Ceci Madrid opened the scoring in the 14th minute, slotting a shot home off an assist from Avery Jennings. Jennings doubled the lead in the 34th minute, assisted by Mia Chambliss and Ella Spiller.

Adams State's offense was limited, with only one shot on goal, a close-range effort from Brissa Toribio that was saved by Lubbock Christian goalkeeper Emma Wright in the first half. Despite outshooting LCU 11-5, the Grizzlies were unable to convert their opportunities.

Adams State goalkeeper Ashlyn Bartley finished with two saves, both coming from Lubbock Christian's Lexi De La Cruz. The Grizzlies' defense tightened up in the second half, but the two-goal deficit proved too much to overcome.

The game saw a physical battle, with Lubbock Christian committing eight fouls to Adams State's five, but neither side saw any cards.

The Grizzlies will open their home season this Friday at 3 p.m. when they face West Texas A&M University at the ASU Soccer / Lacrosse Field.
