Lubbock, TX — Adams State men's soccer team fell 2-0 to Lubbock Christian on Saturday afternoon at the LCU Soccer & Track Complex. Despite generating 18 shots, including eight on goal, the Grizzlies couldn't find the back of the net, dropping to 0-2-0 on the season.
Lubbock Christian (1-1-0) struck first in the eighth minute when Saimon Gjeci found the back of the net after his penalty kick was initially saved by Adams State goalkeeper JP Fernandez. The Chaparrals extended their lead in the 58th minute with a goal from Geoffroy Letienne, assisted by Manu Nunez, to seal the victory.
Adams State pressed throughout the match but couldn't break through Lubbock Christian's defense. Avery Richards led the Grizzlies with three shots on goal, while Fernandez recorded three saves.
Lubbock Christian goalkeeper Connor Pettigrew was a standout for the Chaparrals, making eight saves to secure the clean sheet.
The Grizzlies will be back in action Wednesday September, 18, at Oklahoma Panhandle State.
