Las Vegas, N.M. – The Adams State Grizzlies delivered a commanding performance Wednesday night, defeating the New Mexico Highlands Cowboys 45-3.
The tone for the evening was set early at 125 pounds, where Isaiah Gamez wasted no time pinning Naythan Galbiso in just 1:25. Adam Concepcion followed at 133 pounds with a dominant 18-2 technical fall over Samuel Eveland, wrapping things up in 6:02. Concepcion scored two takedowns in the first period, added a three-point near fall and a four-point near fall in the second, and sealed the victory with another near fall in the third.
At 141 pounds, Angel Flores controlled his match from start to finish, defeating Joseph Misitano by major decision, 14-2. Flores allowed only two escape points, both in the final period, to secure the win.
Kieran Thompson delivered the second pin of the night at 149 pounds, defeating John Baker in 4:34 after wrestling into the second period. At 157 pounds, Aaden Valdez showcased his technical skill with a 15-0 technical fall victory in just 4:38 over Deklyn Miller. Valdez established control early, scoring takedowns and near falls in both periods, leaving no doubt about the outcome.
The Grizzlies' lone setback of the night came at 165 pounds, where Levi Deaguero fell to Ivan Smith Jr. by decision, 10-3. Deaguero battled hard but managed to score only on escapes.
At 174 pounds, Dallas Porter added to Adams State's tally with a 10-1 major decision over Angelo Maechtlen. Porter was relentless, scoring two takedowns in the first period and another in the second. Sergio Zaragoza followed at 184 pounds with a gritty 7-4 decision over Michael Santos.
The night concluded with forfeits at 197 and 285 pounds, as Wil Aucoin and Ronan Meleani collected the final 12 points for the Grizzlies.
Adams State now sets its sights on Saturday's matchup, traveling to Grand Junction to face the Colorado Mesa Mavericks.
