Pueblo, Colo. – Adams State University put up a valiant fight Thursday night, but came up just short in an overtime nail-biter, falling 92-88 to CSU Pueblo in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action at Massari Arena.
Wyatt Helming led the charge for the Grizzlies off the bench with 18 points. John Harge also impressed, adding 15 points, four rebounds, and six assists, while Cameron Kimble chipped in with 13 points.
Adams State (7-10, 2-7 RMAC) started strong, outscoring the ThunderWolves in the paint 40-42 and converting 21 of their 24 free throw attempts. The Grizzlies also displayed defensive intensity, forcing 19 turnovers and scoring 20 points off those opportunities.
The game featured 16 ties and 13 lead changes, highlighting the evenly matched contest between two RMAC rivals. However, CSU Pueblo (9-8, 4-5 RMAC) ultimately capitalized on critical late-game opportunities, with Armon Muldrew scoring a game-high 20 points, including a decisive layup in overtime.
The Grizzlies trailed by three with under 10 seconds remaining but couldn't convert on their final possession, sealing their fate against the ThunderWolves, who were buoyed by a 42-point contribution from their bench.
Adams State will look to bounce back on Saturday as they travel to Colorado Christian.
