Adams State Shines in Dominant 86-66 Win Over Colorado Christian

Denver – Adams State demonstrated their dominance on both ends of the court with a commanding 86-66 win over Colorado Christian in RMAC action on Saturday night after the game was postponed and moved to Regis University due to facility issues at the CCU Arena. The victory improved the Grizzlies to 11-8 overall and 6-4 in RMAC play, solidifying their position in the upper half of the conference standings.

The Grizzlies were led by an electric offensive showing from Ri'Ahana Davis and Angelline Nageak. Davis had a game and season-high 21 points, shooting an efficient 6-of-8 from the field, including a stellar 4-of-5 from three-point range, while also going 5-for-6 from the charity stripe. Davis showcased her versatility, adding five assists to her stat line as she orchestrated much of Adams State's offense.

Nageak complemented Davis's performance with 20 points of her own, hitting 8-of-12 from the floor and 4-of-8 from deep. She also filled up the stat sheet with six assists and four steals, displaying her two-way impact. Taejhuan Hill was a force inside, recording a double-double with 10 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Hill's efforts in the paint helped Adams State control the boards and keep Colorado Christian at bay.

Kiiyani Anitielu chipped in 12 points on 5-of-9 shooting, including two three-pointers, while Mykaila Pickard added a spark off the bench with nine points, all coming from beyond the arc. The Grizzlies' balanced attack and unselfish play were evident as they totaled 19 assists on their 31 made field goals.

Adams State set the tone early, jumping out to a 19-12 lead after the first quarter, thanks to sharp shooting and aggressive defense. The Grizzlies' ability to capitalize on turnovers proved to be a key factor, as they scored 20 points off Colorado Christian's 15 giveaways. By halftime, Adams State held a 40-29 advantage, and they continued to pour it on in the second half, outscoring the Cougars 28-17 in a dominant third quarter that all but sealed the game.

Defensively, the Grizzlies were relentless, forcing turnovers and contesting shots. They racked up 10 steals and held Colorado Christian to just 6-of-25 shooting from three-point range. Their defensive intensity translated into fast-break opportunities and momentum-swinging plays that kept the home team on their heels.

For Colorado Christian, Dasiya Jones stood out with an impressive 23-point, 14-rebound double-double, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Grizzlies' depth and firepower. Nicole Bowlin contributed nine points and six rebounds for the Cougars, who fell to 5-13 overall and 3-7 in RMAC play.

Adams State's offensive efficiency was a highlight of the night, as the team shot 52.5% from the field (31-of-59) and an impressive 52% from three-point range (13-of-25). They also outpaced the Cougars in fast-break points (11-0) and bench scoring (20-6), showcasing their ability to execute across the board.

With the win, the Grizzlies continue their push in the RMAC standings and will look to build on this momentum as they head into the latter stages of the season. Adams State returns to action next week on the road back to Denver to face Regis University.
