Adams State Falls 2–0 to Westminster at Home

Alamosa, Colo. — Despite a strong offensive showing with 17 total shots, the Adams State women's soccer team couldn't find the back of the net Friday afternoon, falling 2–0 to Westminster (Utah) at the ASU Soccer Field.

The Griffins (4–1–5 overall, 1–1–4 RMAC) capitalized on their chances, scoring once in each half, while the Grizzlies (6–4–2 overall, 2–3–1 RMAC) were held scoreless for just the fourth time this season.

Westminster opened scoring in the 34th minute when Amber McIntosh finished off a pass from Hannah Ingersoll. The Griffins doubled their lead in the 75th minute, as Kirsten Kirkham netted her first of the season, assisted by McIntosh.

Adams State generated several promising opportunities throughout the match, outshooting Westminster 17–14 and earning six corner kicks. Lorena Vargas-Galvan and Mia Del Muro each recorded multiple shots on goal, while goalkeeper Ashlyn Bartley made two saves in 90 minutes of play.

Westminster goalkeeper Marin MacKenzie tallied five saves to earn the shutout.

The Grizzlies return to action Sunday, Oct. 19, hosting Colorado Mesa in another RMAC matchup at 1 p.m.
