Alamosa, Colo. — Adams State stormed back in dominant fashion on Thursday night, erasing an 11-point halftime deficit to defeat Midwestern State, 99–91. The win pushes the Grizzlies to 3–1 on the season and showcased a complete team effort in front of the home crowd.
The first half belonged to the Mustangs, who built a 50–39 lead behind their shooting and early tempo. But the second half was all Adams State. The Grizzlies exploded for 60 second-half points, flipping the game with sustained defensive pressure and relentless attacking inside.
Emilek Jallow took over, delivering one of the best performances of the young season. The sophomore forward poured in 34 points on 13-of-20 shooting, adding eight rebounds, three steals, and two blocks to spark the Grizzlies' comeback push. His activity around the rim helped Adams State dominate the interior with 52 points in the paint.
The Grizzlies' defense ignited the turnaround, forcing 18 turnovers and converting them into 23 points off mistakes, including 10 steals and eight blocks as the energy in Plachy Hall shifted. Adams State also used its depth to full advantage, 41 bench points kept the pace high.
Luke Williams chipped in 22 points, finishing strong around the rim, while Jarmell Johnson added 16, including key baskets during the run that helped the Grizzlies seize momentum. On the glass, Adams State's effort was evident with 15 offensive rebounds, generating second-chance scores throughout the half.
By the time the final buzzer sounded, the Grizzlies had fully taken control, completing one of their most impressive halves of basketball this season.
Adams State returns to action Saturday, looking to carry this momentum into their game against Cameron University at 1 p.m.
