Grizzlies Clinch First Program Playoff Berth with Win over New Mexico Highlands 4-0

ALAMOSA, Colorado — In a dominant victory over New Mexico Highlands to close out the season, the Grizzlies secured their spot not only in the RMAC tournament but also earned a first-round home game to start the playoffs. This marks the first time the Grizzlies have qualified for the RMAC tournament, and it's also the first time in program history they will host a playoff match. Today's win was especially significant for the Grizzlies as they continue to aim for history in the 2025 season. They won today's match 4-0, finishing the regular season with a record of 8-7-3 (4-6-2 RMAC), and clinched the 7-seed for the upcoming playoffs next week. The 8 wins and 7-seed finish are both program records. Overall, the 2025 season has been outstanding, and the Grizzlies are eager to keep their successful run going.

In today's match, the Grizzlies really had a dominating performance to close out the regular season. In their 4-0 home win today, they had a major edge both offensively and defensively. Offensively, the Grizzlies secured 23 shots compared to New Mexico Highlands' 7, while also collecting 11 shots on goal to New Mexico Highlands' 4. Truly, today the Grizzlies held down the Cowgirls' offense almost the entire match, giving their offense a multitude of opportunities to score. As well, on the defensive side, the Grizzlies' goalie finished today with a 100% save rate compared to the save rate of New Mexico Highlands, which was only 63.6%. With the Grizzlies' strong offense and excellent defense, the Grizzlies finished their season strong, giving them a great boost going into the playoffs.

Individually, today, the Grizzlies were led by their senior Goalie Ashlyn Bartley, who secured a perfect save rate in today's match, but also four different Grizzlies who all scored one goal today. Those four women were Ashlyn De Lemos, Mia Del Muro, Ashlynn Mustain, and Keira Robertson. For both Robertson and Mustain, it was their first goal of the season, while De Lemos secured her fourth goal, and Del Muro secured her second goal of the season. Overall, today's match was a great all-around performance from the entire team in a game that was a must-win for the Grizzlies.

Looking forward to the Grizzlies' next match, they will play CSU Pueblo this upcoming Friday, November 7th, in the first round of the RMAC Women's Soccer Championship Tournament.
