Alamosa, Colo. – Adams State wrapped up its home schedule on Saturday afternoon, falling 59-0 to Black Hills State in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play.
Despite the scoreline, the Grizzlies found bright spots on both sides of the ball. Senior quarterback Gavin Herberg threw for 117 yards, spreading completions to seven different receivers, while Rasheed Rankin and Jaysn Wade combined for 53 yards on the ground to lead the rushing attack.
Devin Dawkins provided a spark in the return game, breaking free for a 49-yard punt return and a 30-yard kick return to give Adams State strong field position in the first half.
Defensively, Nicolas Mendez led the charge with a game-high 11 tackles, including 2.5 tackles for loss. Mafileo Tupou added six tackles and the Grizzlies' lone sack of the afternoon.
Senior punter Braden Biller closed out his career at Rex Stadium with seven punts for 272 yards, averaging nearly 39 yards per attempt and pinning three inside the 20-yard line.
Adams State closes its 2025 season next weekend on the road, traveling to face South Dakota School of Mines in the RMAC finale next Saturday in Rapid City, S.D.
