Hays, Kan. – Adams State men's wrestling wrapped up a solid day at the Bob Smith Open, placing three athletes inside the top three.
Angel Flores led the charge as the Grizzlies' lone champion. Competing at 149 pounds, Flores battled through five wins on his path to the top of the podium, highlighted by a tech fall and a major decision.
At 141 pounds, Kieran Thompson claimed second place in a highly competitive bracket. After opening the day with a tech fall, Thompson rattled off three straight decisions before falling in sudden victory in the championship match.
Dallas Porter rounded out the podium finishes for the Grizzlies at 165 pounds, earning second place. After a first-round bye, Porter powered through the bracket with two major decisions and a decision to reach the championship match. He ultimately fell in the final by a 15–3 major decision.
The Grizzlies will now turn their attention to Indianapolis, where they'll compete at the Midwest Classic on Dec. 13–14.
