Adams State Triumphs on Senior Day with Overtime Thriller Against CSU Pueblo

Alamosa, Colo. – In a Senior Day showdown that had the crowd roaring, the Adams State Grizzlies delivered a heart-pounding 115-110 overtime victory over CSU Pueblo in their final home game of the season.

The Grizzlies (12-14, 7-11 RMAC) engaged in a relentless back-and-forth battle throughout regulation, with neither team gaining full control. CSU Pueblo (11-15, 6-12 RMAC) carried a narrow 42-40 lead into halftime, but Adams State responded with a determined second-half push, outscoring the ThunderWolves 54-52 to send the game into overtime.

Guard Jude Tapia dazzled, leading Adams State with 29 points, including three clutch three-pointers. Wyatt Helming added 21 points and six rebounds, while Ta'Veus Randle chipped in 17 points and six boards off the bench. The Grizzlies' depth was a key factor, with their bench contributing a crucial 42 points to fuel the win.

Adams State dominated at the free-throw line, sinking an impressive 37-of-41 attempts, and thrived in transition, racking up 25 fast-break points. CSU Pueblo's Brevin Walter put on a show with a game-high 27 points, but the Grizzlies' relentless offensive attack proved too much to handle in overtime.

As the final buzzer echoed through Plachy Hall, the Grizzlies' seniors celebrated a triumphant sendoff. Seniors John Harge, Alex Hurr, and Cameron Kimble combined for 25 points, leaving their mark in their last home game.

With momentum on their side, Adams State now turns its focus to the road, looking to close out the regular season on a high note. The Grizzlies will travel next week to take on Black Hills State University on Thursday before battling the Chadron State Eagles in their regular-season finale.
