Adams State Drops Regis Series 3-1

DENVER – The Adams State softball team wrapped up its doubleheader against Regis University with an impressive win in the first game before falling in the second contest.

Game 1: Adams State 8, Regis 3 The Grizzlies opened the day with an 8-3 victory, powered by a five-run fifth inning. Emily Sauvageau led the charge, going 2-for-4 with a clutch bases-clearing triple, driving in four runs. Kaylee Eyl and Raegan Johnson each added two hits and two runs scored. Aubree Davis was stellar in the circle, throwing a complete game, allowing just two earned runs while striking out four.

Adams State jumped ahead early with two runs in the first inning. Eyl reached first on a fielding error before advancing to second after Johnson walked. Sauvageau singled to right field, allowing Eyl to score. Johnson made it 2-0 after Sauvageau got caught stealing.

The Grizzlies broke things open in the fifth inning. After a walk, error and single put three runners on, Sauvageau delivered her bases-loaded triple, clearing the bases and pushing the lead to 5-2. Caylie Eiguren followed with a two-RBI single, capping off the five-run rally. Adams State added an insurance run in the sixth when Jayden Garcia singled, stole second and scored on a single by Eyl.

Game 2: Regis 12, Adams State 1 (5 inn.) The Grizzlies couldn't sustain their momentum in the second game, falling 12-1 in five innings. Adams State managed six hits but struggled to string them together. Sydney Rodriguez was a bright spot, going 2-for-2 and scoring the team's lone run.

Adams State's only run came in the fourth inning. Rodriguez led off with a single and advanced to second on a groundout. Ali Davis then drove her in with a sharp double down the left-field line.

On the mound, Celie Page took the loss after a tough first inning.

Adams State returns to action next weekend at home taking on MSU Denver starting Saturday.
