Alamosa, Colo. – Championship season has arrived for Adams State Athletics, with multiple teams set to compete on the national stage. The Grizzlies will be well represented at the NCAA Division II Winter Festival in Indianapolis, where track and field and wrestling athletes will compete for national titles. Meanwhile, the women's basketball team is preparing for the first round of the South Central Regional Tournament in Denton, Texas.
Adams State at the NCAA Division II Winter Festival
The NCAA Winter Festival is one of the premier events in Division II athletics, bringing together five sports for a unique championship experience. Adams State boasts a strong contingent of student-athletes competing in track and field and wrestling, all aiming to bring home national honors.
Track and Field
The Grizzlies' track and field team has delivered a stellar season, with 20 athletes qualifying for the national meet. Leading the women's squad is Tristian Spence, the top-ranked competitor in the 3,000m and the second seed in the 5,000m. On the men's side, Romain Legendre enters the championships ranked first in both the 3,000m and 5,000m. With strong performances throughout the indoor season, Adams State is poised to make an impact on the national stage.
A total of 12 women will compete across six events, with seven qualifying in multiple events. On the men's side, eight athletes will compete in five events, with two competing in more than one event.

Wrestling
On the mats, the Grizzlies wrestling team has been a dominant force this season, sending four qualifiers to the NCAA Championships. Isaiah Gamez, Angel Flores, and Aaden Valdez return to nationals, aiming for All-American status once again. Jakob Romero makes his first NCAA appearance after transferring mid-semester from Utah Valley. Wrestling begins Friday, with championship rounds set for Saturday.

Women's Basketball Enters South Central Regional Tournament
While track and wrestling compete at the Winter Festival, the Adams State women's basketball team is set to begin its NCAA Tournament journey in the South Central Regional. The No. 8-seeded Grizzlies earned their berth after a strong regular season, finishing 19-11. They will face No. 1 seed and host Texas Woman's University in the first round at 4 p.m. MT.
