Grizzlies Drop Series to MSU Denver After Doubleheader Defeat

Alamosa, Colo. – The Adams State Grizzlies returned to the field for Day 2 of their series against MSU Denver, looking to bounce back. However, the Roadrunners proved too much to handle, as Adams State dropped both games of the doubleheader, ultimately falling 0-4 in the series.

Game 1: MSU Denver 14, Adams State 0 (5 Inn.)

MSU Denver wasted no time setting the tone, scoring in every inning on their way to a commanding 14-0 victory in five innings. The Roadrunners' bats were relentless, racking up 15 hits, including three doubles, two triples, and a home run.

Offensively, Adams State struggled to find momentum, managing just one baserunner after Aubree Davis reached on a walk. On the mound, Davis battled through five innings but allowed 14 runs on 15 hits. Meanwhile, MSU Denver's pitching was dominant, tossing a five-inning shutout with six strikeouts and just one walk.

Game 2: MSU Denver 15, Adams State 7

The Grizzlies showed resilience in Game 2, fighting to keep the game competitive. Though MSU Denver's offense continued to roll with 16 hits, Adams State responded with seven runs on six hits.

After scoring just one run in the first, the Grizzlies added two in the fifth to extend the game before plating three more in the sixth to stay within striking distance.

Kaylee Eyl led the charge at the plate, delivering a standout performance by going 3-for-4 with an RBI, a walk, and three runs scored. Ali Davis contributed with two runs off a hit and a walk, while Sydney Rodriguez and Emily Sauvageaueach drove in two runs with a hit apiece.

Despite the offensive spark, Adams State couldn't slow down MSU Denver, who scored in five different innings, including a four-run sixth that sealed the game.

The Grizzlies will have a short week as they travel to CSU Pueblo next weekend to take on the Thunderwolves with a four game series starting on Friday.
