Adams State Outslugs Colorado Mines in Game 2 Victory with Home Run Barrage

Alamosa, Colo. – Adams State showcased its offensive firepower in Game 2 of the series against Colorado Mines, erupting for 17 runs on 21 hits en route to a commanding 17-12 victory on Saturday afternoon.

The Grizzlies wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, plating four runs in the first inning before adding four more in the second and a six-run explosion in the third. Despite a late surge from Colorado Mines, Adams State's early offensive onslaught proved too much to overcome.

Leading the charge for the Grizzlies was Braden Watkins, who had a stellar day at the plate, going 4-for-6 with two home runs and three RBIs. Joining him was Phil Carter, who went 3-4 with three home runs, a solo, a 3RBI, and Grand Slam. Josiah Hall and Sseth Reker also contributed to the offensive barrage, combining for four hits and five RBIs. The Grizzlies launched a total of seven home runs, demonstrating their power throughout the contest.

On the mound, Adams State's pitching staff battled through a 17-hit performance from the Orediggers but managed to keep them at bay with clutch outs in the later innings. Brian Walters earned the win, pitching into the middle innings before handing the ball over to the bullpen.

Colorado Mines mounted a late comeback attempt, scoring 12 runs on 17 hits. However, their efforts weren't enough to overcome the Grizzlies' early advantage.

With the win, Adams State improves to 5-15 on the season, while Colorado Mines falls to 6-13. The two teams will conclude their series tomorrow as Adams State looks to secure the series victory with a doubleheader begining at 11 a.m.
