Alamosa, Colo. – Adams State closed out the weekend in commanding fashion, sweeping Sunday's doubleheader against Colorado Mines to clinch a 3-1 series victory. The Grizzlies battled to a 6-4 win in game one before rolling to a 7-2 triumph in the finale.
Game 1: Adams State 6, Colorado Mines 4
Adams State showcased its resilience in the opener, overcoming an early deficit to secure a 6-4 victory. The Grizzlies' offense delivered in key moments, racking up 10 hits, highlighted by Braden Watkins, who went 2-for-4 and launched a three-run homer to right field in the sixth inning to put Adams State ahead for good.
On the mound, Connor Murray set the tone with a steady performance, tossing six innings while allowing just three earned runs and striking out two. Ty Addington took over late, shutting the door to secure the win and preserve the series lead.
Game 2: Adams State 7, Colorado Mines 2
The Grizzlies carried their momentum into the second game, delivering a dominant 7-2 victory behind stellar pitching and opportunistic offense. Adams State's staff was nearly untouchable, holding Colorado Mines to just two hits while recording four strikeouts.
At the plate, the Grizzlies capitalized on every opportunity, scoring seven runs on six hits. Seth Reker led the charge, going 2-for-3 with a double and a sacrifice fly. Adams State also took advantage of five hit-by-pitches and four Oredigger errors, turning defensive miscues into runs.
