Adams State Softball Drops Day 1 at Colorado School of Mines

Golden, Colo. — The Adams State softball team dropped both games of a doubleheader Saturday afternoon, falling 10-2 and 5-3 to Colorado School of Mines.

Game 1: Colorado Mines 10, Adams State 2 (6 innings)
The Grizzlies broke through in the fourth inning with two runs, sparked by a two-RBI double from junior Emily Sauvageau. Sophomore Raegan Johnson and junior Kaylee Eyl scored in the inning after drawing walks, but Adams State couldn't add on.

Sauvageau led the offense, going 2-for-4 with a double. Freshman Jayde Garcia also added a hit and a walk.

Sophomore pitcher Aubree Davis took the loss, allowing 10 runs (nine earned) on 12 hits in a complete-game effort. The Orediggers jumped out to an early lead with a five-run second inning and sealed the win with a two-run RBI single in the sixth.

Game 2: Colorado Mines 5, Adams State 3
Adams State got off to a strong start in the second game, scoring twice in the first inning. Sydney Rodriguez delivered an RBI single, and Sauvageau scored after reaching base and advancing on an error.

Rodriguez finished 2-for-3 with a double and one RBI. Sophomore Caylie Eiguren drove in a run in the fifth inning to cut the deficit to 4-3, but the Orediggers responded with a run in the bottom half to extend the lead.

Freshman Celie Page pitched six innings, allowing five runs (three earned) on 10 hits with two strikeouts. Adams State committed two errors, which led to key scoring chances for Mines.

The Grizzlies fell to 5-32 overall and will face the Orediggers for the final two games of the series tomorrow.
