Alamosa, Colo. – On a tough afternoon at the diamond, the Adams State softball team dropped both games of Thursday's doubleheader to Colorado Christian, falling by scores of 20-1 and 20-2 at home in RMAC action.
Game 1: Colorado Christian 20, Adams State 1
In Game 1, Colorado Christian came out swinging, plating nine runs in the second inning and never looking back. The Cougars pounded out 22 hits and racked up 20 runs in just five innings, including six doubles, four triples, and a home run.
Adams State got on the board in the fourth inning with a solo home run from Grace Hendrickson, but were limited to just two hits against CCU starter Emma Duncan, who struck out four over three dominant innings to earn the win.
Game 2: Colorado Christian 20, Adams State 2
Game 2 followed a similar script. Colorado Christian again struck quickly, scoring four in the first and six in the second en route to another 20-run outburst on 20 hits.
Despite the lopsided scorelines, Adams State showed flashes of fight. Ali Davis ripped a double in the second inning of Game 2 to bring home Naveah Garcia and Emily Sauageau. In the circle, C. Page battled through a relentless Cougar lineup, tossing 92 pitches across five innings in Game 2.
With the losses, Adams State falls to 5-49 (3-35 RMAC), while Colorado Christian improves to 51-10 (40-5 RMAC).
The Grizzlies will begin doubleheader action for day 2 at 11 a.m. against the Cougars.
