Adams State Softball Drops Doubleheader to Colorado Christian

Alamosa, Colo. – Adams State softball faced a tough challenge Friday afternoon, falling in both games of a doubleheader to visiting Colorado Christian University at home to drop the series 0-4.

Game 1: Colorado Christian 11, Adams State 3 (6 innings)

The Grizzlies struggled to contain Colorado Christian's explosive offense in the opener, falling 11-3 in six innings. Adams State pitcher Aubree Davis allowed 11 runs on 11 hits, while the Cougars struck early and often, putting up runs in each of the first four innings.

Adams State's offense managed five hits. Emily Sauvageau delivered a solid double to left center tro drive in two runs to tie the ball game during the bottom of the second. Before Raegan Johnson plated another run across after an error by the third baseman. The Grizzlies struck out 17 times and left five runners on base.

Game 2: Colorado Christian 16, Adams State 5 (5 innings)

Game two followed a similar script, with Colorado Christian jumping out to a commanding lead thanks to a six-run third inning and five home runs throughout the contest. The Cougars racked up 20 hits and only left three runners on base.

Despite the loss, the Grizzlies showed more life offensively. Johnson led the way, going 2-for-3. Ali Davis added a solo inside the park home run in the bottom of the fourth, after retiring the first three batters she faced in the circle in the top of the inning, giving Adams State fans something to cheer about.

Unfortunately, the Cougars' relentless attack proved too much, and the game was shortened due to the run rule after five innings.

Adams State will travel to Chadron State next weekend on Friday/Saturday for their final series of the season. Looking to pick up a win against the 17-27 Eagles.
