Chadron, Neb. – Adams State hit the road to face Chadron State in a Friday doubleheader, battling through a tough day on the diamond.
Game 1: Chadron State 11, Adams State 3 (6 innings)
The Grizzlies found their spark in the fifth inning, plating three runs to cut into a big Chadron lead. Grace Hendricks led the way offensively with a 2-for-3 outing and a two-RBI single to left center. Kaylee Eyl added a double and scored a run, while Sydney Rodriguez contributed an RBI on a sac fly. Despite the offensive burst, Adams State couldn't hold back Chadron's bats, as the Eagles racked up 14 hits. Aubrey Davis took the loss in the circle, tossing five innings.
Game 2: Chadron State 6, Adams State 5
The second game was a back-and-forth contest that saw the Grizzlies keep the game within one for most of the game. A solo home run by Hendricks — her second hit and third RBI of the day put the Grizzlies on the board in the second inning.Caylie Eiguren had a standout game at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, and two RBIs. Rodriguez added two hits and scored twice. Despite the offensive push, the Eagles stayed just out of reach during the entire game. Freshman pitcher Ceile Page went the distance, striking out three in six innings of work.
Adams State (5-49, 3-39 RMAC) wraps up the regular season tomorrow with another doubleheader at Chadron.
