SALT LAKE CITY – Westminster jumped out to a fast start and never looked back, handing Adams State an 18-3 loss in Saturday's RMAC matchup.
The Griffins took control early, netting four goals in the opening quarter and tacking on seven more before halftime. Jacob Parsons got the Grizzlies on the board midway through the second with an unassisted strike, and Danny Joy added another just before the break, burying a solo goal with 16 seconds on the clock.
Westminster's defense clamped down in the second half, blanking Adams State in the third while piling on six unanswered goals. Kegan Swain scored the Grizzlies' final goal in the fourth quarter to cap the scoring at 18-3.
Adams State managed 20 shots, 14 of which were on target. Goalie Ryan Berger played the full 60 minutes, recording nine saves on 27 shots faced. The Grizzlies won 10 faceoffs; Westminster claimed 16.
The Grizzlies return home for a Wednesday midday game against Colorado Mesa. Adams State Lacrosse will honor their one senior, No. 17 Kris Owens at 1 p.m. MT.
