KEARNEY, Nebraska — In the final match of a four-match road trip, the Grizzlies dropped their final match to finish their road trip with a record of 1-3. The final match was played against the University of Missouri St. Louis, which is receiving votes for the tops in the nation. The final set score was 3 to 0. The loss puts the Grizzlies at a record of 3-6 overall.
The final match of the Grizzlies' road trip was against a tough opponent in Missouri-St. Louis, who was able to take all three sets against the Grizzlies to secure a sweep. In the first set, the Grizzlies lost 25-16; in the second set, Adams lost an extremely close set that ultimately tilted the scales by a score of 26-24; and in the final set, Missouri St. Louis was able to take control again, winning 25-18.
Looking at the team comparisons, the University of Missouri-St. Louis was able to take control in every statistical category except for blocks. In that one category, the Grizzlies had control, leading 9 blocks to 3. Looking at the breakdown of the other statistical categories, Missouri-St. Louis had the edge in kills, 38 to 33; serving aces, 6 to 3; assists, 37 to 32; and digs, 63 to 46. UMSL had a great performance in the match as the Grizzlies fought hard but struggled to separate themselves from UMSL.
Individually, for Adams State, the standout players were Hadleigh Richardson, Ashlyn Jones, Rowan Tribelhorn, and Logan Conlin. Richardson continued her great play as she collected 12 kills, 3 blocks, and 7 digs. Richardson's 12 kills led the Grizzlies by a large margin as the next closest was Amar'e Stout, who collected 5 kills in the match. Jones was able to help the Grizzlies with her great serving ability as she collected 2 of the 3 aces Adams State had in the match. Tribelhorn was able to help the Grizzlies both on the offensive and defensive sides of the ball as she led the team in blocks with 5, while also collecting 2 assists. Lastly, Conlin had a great all-around match, collecting 1 serving ace and leading the Grizzlies in digs with 12.
Looking forward to the Grizzlies' future schedule, they will have six days off before their next match, which will open conference play. The match will be against Colorado Mesa at home in Alamosa. The match will allow the Grizzlies to start conference play with a hot start against a Colorado Mesa team that is currently 4-3 on the season. The home conference opener will also be the start of a home stretch for the Grizzlies, who will begin a 3-match home stretch starting next Friday. The match will be played on September 19th at 6 PM MST and will be a great opportunity to come out and support your Grizzly women.
