Adams State Cruises Past Wayland Baptist with 4-0 Victory

Alamosa, Colo. – The Adams State women's soccer team put together a dominant performance Thursday afternoon, defeating Wayland Baptist 4-0 in a clean sweep at the ASU Soccer Field. This win put the Grizzlies on track to their best start in program history.

The Grizzlies (3-1-1) wasted little time getting on the board. In the 7th minute, Grace Abbott netted her second goal of the season off an assist from Ashlynn Mustain to give Adams State an early 1-0 lead.

After carrying the advantage into halftime, Adams State exploded in the second half with three more goals. Ashlyn De Lemos struck in the 57th minute, finishing a setup from Colette Tena to double the lead. Just six minutes later, Mia Del Muro scored her first goal as an Adams State Grizzly with help from Aja Listar, making it 3-0.

Abbott capped off the afternoon with her second goal of the match in the 74th minute, sealing the Grizzlies' commanding 4-0 win.

Adams State controlled the pace from start to finish, outshooting the Pioneers 25-2 and putting 10 shots on target. Goalkeepers Ashlyn Bartley and Kena Keyes combined for the clean sheet.

"We are really excited about our start to the season, but we still have more to do and can't keep pushing now," said Head Coach Alex Greco. This was Greco's 20th win as a head coach.

The Grizzlies will look to carry their momentum into Senior Day on Sunday against Oklahoma Panhandle State University, with kickoff starting at 12 p.m.
