Grizzlies Crown Three Champions at Eagles Women Open

Chadron, Neb. – The Adams State Grizzlies placed five wrestlers at the Eagles Women Open, hosted by Chadron State on Saturday. Competing against a 13-team field, the Grizzlies crowned three champions, added one runner-up and one third-place finisher in the one-day event.

Mia Siqueiros captured the 103-pound title after opening with a 10-0 technical fall in 45 seconds over Isabella Crown, wrestling unattached. In the semifinals, Siqueiros recorded a 16-6 technical fall in 5:40 over Brianna Vollendroff of Chadron State. She secured the championship with a 16-10 decision over Mana Chanthasone, unattached.

At 117 pounds, Flavia Nagatani also claimed a championship. She opened the tournament with a 10-0 technical fall in 1:08 before defeating Isabella Morales of Colorado Mesa by a 7-2 decision in the quarterfinals. Nagatani advanced to the final with a fall in 55 seconds over Melanie Fragua of Trinidad State and sealed the title with an 11-1 technical fall in 3:37.

Dakota Hull continued her dominant start to the season by winning the 145-pound championship. After receiving a first-round bye, Hull earned a fall in 5:58 in the quarterfinals. She followed with a 15-12 decision over Mackenzie Blue of Texas Woman's University before claiming the title with a 13-0 technical fall in 2:22 over Eliza Davis, wrestling unattached.

Katelyn Faczak was the Grizzlies' lone runner-up at 110 pounds. After a first-round bye, Faczak defeated Grace Huggins of Southeast Community College with a 10-0 technical fall in 1:31. She advanced to the championship with an 11-0 technical fall in 2:46 over Keira Hersel of Colorado Mesa before falling by pin in the title bout.

Julia Donnelly placed third at 124 pounds. After receiving a first-round bye, Donnelly defeated Angelina Cassioppi with a 12-2 technical fall in 5:11. She dropped her semifinal match by fall before rebounding with a pin in 1:42 over Nadiya Trujillo of Trinidad State. In the third-place match, Donnelly again defeated Cassioppi, earning a 10-0 technical fall in 2:56.

The Grizzlies return to action at home Jan. 25 against Colorado Mesa before competing at the RMAC Championships on Jan. 31.
