ALAMOSA, Colo. — Mary Ngige and Thibault Tauziede earned Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Cross Country Runner of the Week honors after leading Adams State at the 88th annual Cowboy Jamboree in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
The awards marked the second weekly recognition of the season for both Grizzlies. Ngige and Tauziede previously swept the honors following their individual victories at the Joe I. Vigil Open.
Ngige paced the Adams State women against a strong collegiate field at Oklahoma State's Greiner Family OSU Cross Country Course. She covered the 6-kilometer course in 21:00.2 and finished 28th overall, leading the Grizzlies to sixth place with 173 points.
Emily Jobes followed less than three seconds behind Ngige in 29th place. Their finishes gave Adams State two runners among the top 30 as the Grizzlies competed against programs including BYU, Oklahoma State and New Mexico.
Tauziede led the men with a 13th-place finish, completing the 8-kilometer race in 23:58.8. His performance helped Adams State secure third place with 112 points, behind New Mexico and Oklahoma State.
Tauziede led a group of five Grizzlies who finished among the top 33. Jack Gumm followed in 19th place, while Sfiso Makolomakwa, Chakib Cherkaoui Rhazouani and Soufyane Laaziz completed Adams State's scoring group.
The latest honors followed another meet in which Ngige and Tauziede finished as Adams State's top runners, building on their season-opening performances in Alamosa.
