ALAMOSA, Colo. — Adams State converted a third-quarter turnover into a touchdown but could not slow CSU Pueblo's offense in a 72–7 loss Saturday afternoon at Rex Stadium.
Jett Lewis connected with Max Minor for the Grizzlies' lone touchdown. Lewis completed 5 of 8 passes for 46 yards and one score, while Minor's 35-yard reception accounted for the touchdown.
Andre Branch led the rushing attack with 46 yards on seven carries. Branch also caught three passes, completed a 16-yard pass, and recorded 59 kickoff-return yards.
Zachary Ray paced the defense with 11 tackles. Roscoe Taylor added eight tackles and three pass breakups. Benjamin Rodriguez and Thomas Perea each finished with seven tackles.
The Grizzlies recorded three sacks. Perea produced an 11-yard sack, Frankie Pacheco added a five-yard sack, and Cameron Mitchell-Ochoa recorded a 13-yard sack that helped create Adams State's scoring opportunity.
CSU Pueblo opened the scoring with a 98-yard touchdown drive midway through the first quarter. The ThunderWolves added a 50-yard touchdown pass and a 50-yard field goal to take a 17–0 lead into the second quarter.
The visitors extended their advantage to 34–0 by halftime with two touchdowns and a 48-yard field goal.
Adams State's defense created momentum early in the third quarter. Pacheco opened the series with a sack before Mitchell-Ochoa brought down the quarterback and forced a fumble. Kaden Souders recovered the ball at the CSU Pueblo 35-yard line.
Two plays later, Lewis found Minor for a 35-yard touchdown with 10:32 remaining in the quarter. Anthony Arnusch converted the extra point.
CSU Pueblo answered on its next possession and added three more touchdowns and a field goal during the second half.
Adams State finished with 147 yards of offense, including 77 rushing yards and 70 passing yards. The Grizzlies recorded eight first downs and held the ball for 24:02.
Jacob McGarvey averaged 47.2 yards across eight punts and placed two inside the 20-yard line. Landon Bobo averaged 41.8 yards on four punts.
