Salt Lake City — The Adams State Grizzlies fell to Westminster University, 84-73, Saturday at Behnken Field House.
Adams State struggled early as the Griffins opened the game on a 26-18 run in the first quarter. The Grizzlies responded in the second, outscoring Westminster 16-12, but were unable to erase the early deficit.
Taejhuan Hill paced Adams State with 19 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double. Kiiyani Anitielu added 18 points, along with a block and a steal. Jada Price also reached double figures with 13 points and recorded a block and a steal.
The Grizzlies shot 40% from the field and 44% from 3-point range. The difference came at the free-throw line, where Adams State shot 59.1%, missing nine attempts.
Although the Grizzlies won the turnover battle, committing just nine turnovers compared to Westminster's 20, Adams State converted those opportunities into only 17 points.
The Grizzlies will return home next Thursday for their final two games of the regular season when they host Black Hills State at 5:30 p.m.
