Adams State Splits First RMAC Series against BHSU

BROOMFIELD, Colo. – Adams State Softball showed grit throughout Saturday's RMAC doubleheader at Holy Family High School, pushing Game One to extra innings before falling 6–5 on a walk‑off home run. The Grizzlies dropped Game Two 9–1 in five innings as Black Hills State closed the day with two wins over the Grizzlies.

Due to daylight running out on Sunday, the Grizzlies had to finish the final inning of game 2 against Black Hills State this morning. In that inning, the Grizzlies were able to extend the lead on a Devree Godinez single, then shutting out the Yellow Jackets in the bottom half.

Game One: Black Hills State 6, Adams State 5 (8 innings)

Black Hills State struck first with a run in the opening frame, then added four more in the third to build a 5–0 advantage. The Yellow Jackets' surge included a two‑run double from Jessica Melendez and a two‑RBI single from Sammie Kaufman‑Warner, who finished the day as BHSU's most dangerous bat.

Adams State refused to fold. Trailing by five in the sixth, the Grizzlies erupted for a five‑run inning to tie the game.

Aubree Davis sparked the rally with a double, while Jayde Garcia delivered a run‑scoring single and Devree Godinez added an RBI fielder's choice. Emily Sauvageau's sacrifice fly brought the Grizzlies within one, and a defensive miscue allowed the tying run to cross.

Pitcher Aryana Munoz was outstanding in relief, tossing 5.1 innings and allowing just one run.

The game remained deadlocked until the bottom of the eighth, when Kaufman‑Warner lifted a walk‑off home run to left field to seal the 6–5 final.

Game Two: Black Hills State 9, Adams State 1 (5 innings)

The Yellow Jackets carried their momentum into the second contest, striking for four runs in the first inning behind a leadoff triple and a two‑RBI double from Audrey Fouras.

Adams State's lone hit came from Caylie Eiguren in the fourth, part of a sequence that produced the Grizzlies' only run.

Kaylee Eyl reached on a walk and later scored on an RBI hit‑by‑pitch drawn by Ali Davis

Black Hills State broke the game open in the fifth, plating five runs on five hits to push the margin to eight and end the contest via run rule.

Aubree Davis worked 4.1 innings in the circle before Isabel Rodriguez entered in relief.

The Grizzlies will return home this weekend and face off for a four game series against Regis starting Saturday morning.
