Pueblo, Colo. – Adams State women's basketball used a dominant second half to rally past CSU Pueblo, 72-65, Saturday afternoon inside Massari Arena, clinching the No. 3 seed in the RMAC Tournament in the process.
The Grizzlies improve to 21-9 overall and 15-5 in conference play with the road win.
After trailing 34-27 at halftime, Adams State flipped the momentum in the third quarter. The Grizzlies shot a blistering 12-of-16 (75 percent) from the field in the period and outscored the ThunderWolves 29-18 to take a 56-52 lead into the fourth.
Taejhuan Hill led the charge with 21 points on 10-of-14 shooting and added five rebounds, including a late tip-in and free throw to stretch the lead in the final two minutes. Elaina Watson filled the stat sheet with 15 points, eight rebounds and seven assists, while Ashiian Hunter added 12 points and delivered a key four-point play during the third-quarter surge. Kiiyani Anitielu chipped in nine points and five rebounds.
Adams State controlled the paint, scoring 46 points inside and converting 17 points off turnovers.
The Grizzlies shot 45.3 percent from the floor and held CSU Pueblo to 31.2 percent shooting in the fourth quarter to close out the win.
With the victory, Adams State secures the No. 3 seed in the RMAC Tournament and will host MSU Denver on Tuesday at 6 p.m. inside Plachy Hall. More details will be released as they become available.
