Adams State Women's Basketball Wins 7th Straight Game, Beating New Mexico Highlands 71-65

ALAMOSA, Colorado – In a Tuesday night game against New Mexico Highlands, the Grizzlies win their 7th straight game to continue their outstanding run of games by a score of 71-65. The victory over Highlands moves the Grizzlies to a record of 18-5(12-1 RMAC) and 8-1 at home as they continue to play outstanding basketball.

In tonight's game, the story was the Grizzlies strong shooting from both the 3-point line and the free throw line, while also playing outstanding defense to hold a consistent New Mexico Highlands offense to only 65 points in tonight's game. 

Offensively for the Grizzlies, they finished the night 10-29 from behind the 3-point line giving them 7 more 3-pointers then New Mexico Highlands who finished the night with 3. As well, the Grizzlies finished the night 15-19 from the free throw line for a final percentage of 78.94%, compared to New Mexico Highlands who finished the night 10-15 for a final percentage of 66.67%. Along with the Grizzlies consistent offensive performance as a team, the Grizzlies defense was outstanding as a team. The Grizzlies forced 17 turnovers by New Mexico Highlands, while collecting 9 steals and 1 block on the night. The Grizzlies also kept Highlands to 27.3% from the 3-point line and 40.6% from the floor. Overall, it was a great performance on both sides of the ball for Adams State against a solid New Mexico Highlands. 

Individually for the Grizzlies, they were led by Kiiyani Anitielu who finished with 26 points on 10-22 shooting, while finishing 4-10 from behind the 3-point line, and 2-2 from the free throw line. Following Anitielu's lead was Jada Price, and Taejhuan Hill who both finished in double-digits along with Anitielu. Price finished the night with 12 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists, while Hill finished the night with a double-double, collecting 11 points, 12 rebounds, and 2 assists on the night for yet another great all-around performance. 

Up next for the Grizzlies, will be Fort Lewis College as the Grizzlies will look to continue their outstanding winning streak with an eighth straight victory. Adams State's game against Fort Lewis will be this Thursday, February 5th, at 5:30 PM MST here in Alamosa, Colorado. The Grizzlies will look to keep a stronghold on second-place in Conference this Thursday, as they continue to finish the season strong with just 7 more conference games remaining in the regular season, before the RMAC Championship Tournament at the beginning of March.
