Adams State Drops Pair on Opening Day of Southern Colorado Crossover

Pueblo, Colo. – Adams State softball opened the 2026 Southern Colorado Crossover Softball Tournament with a pair of losses, falling to Texas A&M-Kingsville 11-6 and Pittsburgh State 4-0.

In the opener, the Grizzlies struck first as Isabel Rodriguez drove in a run with an RBI groundout in the top of the first inning. Texas A&M-Kingsville answered immediately, scoring three runs in the bottom of the frame.

Adams State responded with three unanswered runs over the second and third innings. Ali Davis crossed the plate on a fielding error, while Aubree Davis delivered a two-run double to left-center. Neveah Garcia later tied the game with an RBI double.

The Grizzlies plated their final run in the top of the seventh on a sacrifice fly that scored Rodriguez. Aryana Munoz threw 3.1 innings, allowing 10 hits and nine runs, while striking out two and walking two.

In game two, Adams State kept Pittsburgh State off the scoreboard through three innings before the Gorillas scored once in the fourth, twice in the fifth and once in the sixth. The Grizzlies collected four hits in the contest.

Isabel Rodriguez went the distance in the circle, pitching 6.0 innings and allowing six hits and four earned runs.

The Grizzlies will face off against Pittsburg State at 10 a.m., before heading to Colorado Springs, Colo. to face off against University of Minnesota Crookston.
