Colorado Springs, Colo. – Adams State split day two of the Southern Colorado Crossover on Saturday, falling to Pittsburg State before earning its first win of the season with a 6-3 extra-inning victory over Minnesota Crookston.
In the opener, the Grizzlies dropped an 11-0 decision to Pittsburg State, following a 4-0 loss to the Gorillas on Friday night. Adams State struggled to generate offense, managing just four hits. Isabel Rodriguez led the way with a double.
Jakylnn Harteker worked 3.0 innings in the circle, striking out one batter, while Payton Torres tossed 2.0 innings and recorded two strikeouts.
In game two, the Grizzlies picked up their first win of the season with a 6-3 victory over Minnesota Crookston in eight innings. Adams State took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI single from Reagan Johnson.
Emily Sauvageau added a second run after drawing a walk that brought Neveah Garcia home. The Golden Eagles tied the game in the bottom of the seventh, but Sauvageau answered with an RBI single in the top of the eighth. Aubree Davis followed with a three-run home run to seal the win.
Aubree Davis earned the win in the circle, pitching the final 2.0 innings while allowing no runs, striking out one and walking one.
The Grizzlies will face off against Texas A&M Kingsville at 12:30 p.m. in Colorado Springs, Colo. to try to secure their second win of the season.
