Adams State Drops Final Game of the Southern Colorado Crossover

Colorado Springs, Colo. – Adams State softball dropped its final game of the Southern Colorado Crossover on Sunday afternoon, falling 4-1 to Texas A&M-Kingsville. The Grizzlies collected six hits in the contest but were able to convert just one into a run.

Adams State's offense got off to a slow start, while the defense held the Javelinas scoreless through the first three innings. Texas A&M-Kingsville broke through in the fourth, plating three runs on a wild pitch, an RBI single and a stolen base of home.

The Grizzlies' lone run came in the fifth inning when Reagan Johnson delivered an RBI single down the right side, scoring Denae Ojeda. Aubree Davis finished with a double to account for one of Adams State's extra-base hits.

Isabell Rodriguez started in the circle for the Grizzlies, pitching 4.0 innings while allowing five hits and three runs and striking out one. Celie Page and Davis each threw 1.0 inning in relief to close out the game.

Adams State will open RMAC play next weekend, traveling to Spearfish, S.D., for a series against Black Hills State.
