Alamosa, Colo. – Adams State softball dropped both games of Saturday's doubleheader to Colorado State Pueblo, falling 11-0 in the opener before losing 9-0 in the second game at the ASU Softball Complex. Despite the setbacks, the Grizzlies split the four-game series after picking up two wins on Friday.
Colorado State Pueblo jumped ahead early in the first game, scoring two runs in the opening inning before adding another in the third. The ThunderWolves extended their lead with three runs in the fifth and five more in the sixth to secure the 11-0 victory.
Adams State collected six hits in the contest, including two from Kaylee Eyl, while Jayde Garcia, Isabel Rodriguez, Aubree Davis and Emily Sauvageau each added a hit. Isabel Rodriguez took the loss in the circle after allowing six runs in 4.2 innings, while Aubree Davis pitched the final 1.1 innings.
In the second game, the ThunderWolves once again struck early, scoring two runs in the second inning before adding two more in the third to build a 4-0 lead. Colorado State Pueblo broke the game open in the fifth inning with five runs on six hits to secure the 9-0 win.
Emily Sauvageau accounted for Adams State's lone hit with a double in the second inning. Aryana Muñoz started in the circle and took the loss after throwing 4.2 innings, while Celie Page recorded the final out in relief.
With the split, Adams State moves to 6-20 overall on the season. The Grizzlies will travel to Grand Junction next weekend to face off against Colorado Mesa.
