Grand Junction, Colo. – Adams State dropped both games of its RMAC doubleheader at Colorado Mesa on Saturday, falling 9-0 in game one and 12-4 in game two in Grand Junction.
In game one, the Grizzlies were limited to four hits as Aubree Davis led the offense with a 2-for-2 performance, while Kaylee Eyl added a double. Colorado Mesa broke the game open with four runs in the second inning and added five more in the fourth. Celie Page went four innings in the circle for Adams State, allowing nine runs (eight earned) on 11 hits.
Game two saw a much stronger start from the Grizzlies, who jumped out to a 4-0 lead through the first two innings. Aubree Davis highlighted the early offense with a two-RBI double, while Isabel Rodriguez went 2-for-3 with an RBI and Emily Sauvageau also drove in a run.
Colorado Mesa responded with three runs in the second and three more in the third to take the lead before pulling away with a six-run sixth inning to secure the 12-4 win.
Aryana Muñoz took the loss in game two after allowing six runs over three innings, while the Grizzlies' pitching staff combined to give up 11 earned runs and 11 walks in the contest.
Across the doubleheader, Adams State totaled 10 hits, with Davis leading the way offensively, while the Mavericks capitalized on timely hitting to complete the sweep.
The Grizzlies will be back for games 3 & 4 of the series beginning at 11 a.m. on Sunday morning.
