Alamosa, Colo. – Adams State dropped a 21-4 decision to Concordia University Irvine on Friday afternoon at home.
The Grizzlies battled early, keeping the game within reach in the opening quarter before finding the equalizer early in the second. Jacob Parsons capitalized on a man-up opportunity to tie the game at 1-1, and Adams State continued to trade chances as Tre Williams and Parsons helped keep the offense moving.
Concordia University Irvine, however, used a strong second-quarter surge to take control. The Eagles scored nine goals in the period, building a 10-3 lead heading into halftime and shifting momentum for the remainder of the game. Adams State added a third-quarter goal from Cohen Taylor, but was unable to slow Concordia's offensive pace down the stretch.
Parsons led the Grizzlies with two goals and two assists, while Williams finished with a goal and an assist. Taylor rounded out the scoring with one goal.
In goal, Ryan Berger totaled 15 saves while facing heavy pressure, as Concordia held a 59-24 advantage in shots and controlled possession with a 22-7 edge in faceoffs.
Despite the result, the Grizzlies showed flashes offensively and will look to build on those moments as they prepare for their next matchup, which will be Dominican University of California on Sunday at 12 p.m.
