Denver – The Adams State softball team dropped both games of Sunday's RMAC doubleheader against MSU Denver 14-4 in game one and 9-1 in the finale as the Roadrunners completed a four-game weekend sweep.
MSU Denver built an early lead in the opener, scoring three runs in the first inning and adding seven more over the next two frames.
Adams State answered with a four-run fourth inning.
Emily Sauvageau drove in the Grizzlies' first run with an RBI double before
Makenzie Simon tripled down the left field line to score two.
Kamryn Foster later added an RBI single to cap the inning.
The Grizzlies finished game one with four runs on four hits but were not able to keep up as the Roadrunners finished with 14 runs on 21 hits to end the game early in five innings.
In game two, MSU Denver again struck early, scoring four runs in the first inning and four more in the second to take control.
Adams State scored its lone run int he fourth inning when
Denae Ojeda drove in
Isabel Rodriguez on a fielder's choice. The Grizzlies recorded seven hits in the game, including two from
Kaylee Eyl.
With the losses, Adams State falls to 4-18 overall and 3-9 in RMAC play after dropping the series to the Roadrunners. The Grizzlies will return home to face CSU Pueblo in a four game series starting Friday at noon.
