Lakewood, Colo. — Adams State dropped both games of Friday's doubleheader to Colorado Christian, falling 3-2 in Game 1 before a 7-0 loss in Game 2 at All Star Park.
The Grizzlies were competitive early in the opener despite a three-run first inning from the Cougars. Celie Page settled in to toss a complete game, holding Colorado Christian scoreless over the final five innings to keep Adams State within striking distance.
Adams State answered with runs in the second and fourth innings, highlighted by a solo home run from Kaylee Eyl and an RBI triple from Caylie Eiguren. The Grizzlies outscored the Cougars the rest of the way but couldn't overcome the early deficit in a 3-2 final.
In Game 2, Colorado Christian created separation early once again, plating five runs across the second and third innings before adding two more in the fifth.
Adams State finished with six hits in the second game, with Denae Ojeda, Isabel Rodriguez, Alexis Gonzales, Makenzie Simon, Emily Sauvageau, and Devree Godinez each recording hits, but the Grizzlies were unable to push a run across the plate.
Aubree Davis got the start in the circle, and Adams State used multiple pitchers in the effort, but the Cougars' 13-hit performance proved too much to overcome.
The Grizzlies will be back in action tomorrow at 11 a.m. for their last away doubleheader of the season.
