Lakewood, Colo. – Adams State closed its road slate with a pair of identical losses to No. 5 Colorado Christian, falling 9-1 in both games.
The Grizzlies opened the scoring in Game 1 when Mackenzie Simon singled to left-center to drive in a run. Adams State (10-40) managed just three hits in the contest, all coming in the first inning. The Cougars (50-2) responded with a strong offensive showing, scoring five runs in the fifth inning, adding three more on an inside-the-park home run and one in the sixth to secure the run-rule victory.
Aryana Munoz took the loss in the circle, pitching two innings and allowing eight runs on eight hits.
Game 2 saw a similar final score but a more balanced box score. The Grizzlies recorded four hits over five innings, with their lone run coming in the fifth on a fielder's choice by Denae Ojeda.
Celie Page took the loss, allowing six runs on seven hits in four innings pitched.
Adams State will return home for its final series Friday against Chadron State. Senior Day is scheduled for Saturday morning ahead of the 11 a.m. first pitch.
