ALAMOSA, Colorado — The Adams State women's soccer team remained unbeaten Thursday afternoon, playing West Texas A&M to a 0-0 draw at the Adams State Soccer Field. The result moves the Grizzlies to 3-0-1 on the season as Adams State continues its strong start to the 2026 campaign.
Diving into today's match, Adams State controlled much of the offensive pressure throughout, outshooting West Texas A&M 9-5 while also holding a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks. The Grizzlies generated six shots in the opening half and forced three saves from the Buffaloes goalkeeper.
Keira Robertson and Ashlynn Mustain each placed a shot on goal for the Grizzlies in the first, while Shay Norden also recorded a shot on target after entering the match off the bench. Later, Robertson added her second shot on goal giving the Grizzlies a total of four shots on goal for the match. Lorena Vargas-Galvan also recorded two shots during today's match, tying Robertson for the team lead.
Defensively, goalkeeper Kena Keyes continued to provide a strong presence in goal, recording three saves while earning the shutout. West Texas A&M put three of its five shots on target, but Keyes and the Adams State defense put up an impressive showing at home keeping the Buffaloes off the scoreboard for all 90 minutes.
The Grizzlies maintained their offensive advantage during the match but were unable to find the game-winning goal. Adams State finished with four shots on goal and forced four saves from the West Texas A&M goalkeeper.
With the draw, the Grizzlies remain unbeaten through their first four matches of the season and will look to continue their strong start as the 2026 campaign moves forward. The Grizzlies next match will be this Saturday, September 5th at home against Eastern New Mexico University. The match will be held at the ASU Soccer field at 3 PM MST.
