Deb Rodda jointed the Adams State University Athletic Training staff as an Assistant Athletic Trainer in March 2022.
Prior to joining the Grizzles staff, she worked at Dodge City Community College as an Assistant Athletic Trainer with the primary responsibility of women’s volleyball, men’s & women’s cross country, women’s Basketball, and men’s and women’s track and field. She worked at Dodge City for a total of 3 years.
In addition to this experiences Deb has served as Head Athletic Trainer two times in her career -once with Buena Vista College in Storm Lake IA and Dodge City Community College, in Dodge City KS. During those times she worked with football, men’s wrestling, men’s & women’s basketball, and track & field. She also served one year as a Assistant Athletic Trainer at Fort Hays State providing coverage for women’s basketball.
Outside the collegiate environment, Deb also worked 5 years within the minor league professional basketball league with the Dodge City Legend. During this time, she served as the Lead Medical Staff for the USBL Basketball Tournament. She also served with the Olympic Level of sport preforming a rotation with the Olympic Training Center in Palo Alta CA. Within the winter Olympic circuit Deb provided sports medicine coverage for the US Olympic Figure Skating Championships in 1998 and Short Track Speed Skating World Cup in 1999. Also with the winter Paralympic organization covering the Sled Hockey Championship in 1999.
In-between this time in her athletic training career Deb took 10 years off from college athletics to raise her 2 sons. During this time, she worked as a high school athletic trainer -covering all sports at several high schools in western Kansas. During this time, she all worked as a grant writer and worked with the high schools and their surrounding communities with health initiatives addressing physical activity, nutrition, and tobacco. One of her communities she worked with, Garden City KS, was one of the first community in Kansas to pass a comprehensive tobacco free ordinance with her assistance.
Deb earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities with a double major in Physical Education and Exercise Science with an emphasis in athletic training. Her master’s degree is from Arizona State University in Exercise and Wellness. During her graduate coursework at Arizona State she worked as graduate assistant with women’s basketball and with men’s & women’s swimming.
Outside of her professional life Deb is married to her husband Brad for 29 years with twin sons Caleb & Granger. Both of her sons have started their careers in athletics one with Coastal Carolina University and one with the Colorado Rockies Organization. In her free time Deb enjoying watching baseball games, hiking, working in her gardens -plus visiting her children.
