ALAMOSA, Colo. (October 10, 2014) -- The Adams State University women's volleyball team started off their homecoming weekend festivities in resounding fashion by beating Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) rival the Western State Colorado University Mountaineers by a match score of 3-0.

With the victory, Adams State improves to 9-8 on the season and 4-5 in RMAC play. Western State's record falls to 0-13, 0-9 RMAC.

After five consecutive road matches, Â Adams State returned to the court at Plachy Hall in front of crowd of 775 avid fans. A warm welcome from the fans assisted ASU in capturing the win via set scores of 25-16, 25-15, and 25-19.

The play of outside hitter Lindsey Stindt was critical for the Grizzlies offensive success; leading the team with 13 kills. A collective effort from the Grizzlies helped earn the victory as Mallory Grimsrud and Alex Parker each added five kills, respectively. Parker led the team in blocks with three, proving to be a force both defensively and offensively. Katelyn Schwartz led all players with 31 assists while Gabrielle Timmen led the Grizzlies with 18 digs.

After losing four of their last five games, the Grizzlies earned this much needed victory today against the Mountaineers. Their next match is tomorrow against Colorado State University-Pueblo, at 7:00 p.m. from Plachy Hall.Â
