Grizzlies Fall At Home To Mustangs

ALAMOSA, Colo. (October 25, 2014) -- The Adams State University Grizzlies volleyball team lost in their Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) contest against the visiting Western New Mexico University Mustangs by a match score of 3-0. With the loss ASU's record now stands at 12-10, 6-7 in RMAC play. The Mustangs improve their record to 9-12, 6-7 in RMAC. With only a few remaining RMAC games left on their schedule and the RMAC tournament on the horizon, wins will now be at a  premium for Adams State.

The Grizzlies currently sit in seventh place in the RMAC standings, trailing Black Hills State University.

Western New Mexico won the match via set scores of 23-25, 21-25, and 17-25. WNMU was able to silence any attempt of a comeback with a strong defensive night from Shannon Rich and Heather Verrill. Together they formed an efficient duo in the net, accounting for 11 of the 13 blocks for the Mustangs. Verrill was also just as effective on the offensive side leading the Mustangs with 10 kills and .615 efficiency rate.

For the Grizzlies, Leah Nelson led the team with 13 kills at a .188 efficiency rate. Lindsey Stindt and Mallory Grimsrud rounded out the offensive output with 11 kills apiece. Katelyn Schwartz led the team with 38 assists while fellow classmate Gabrielle Timmen led the team with 13 digs.
