COLORADO SPRINGS (October 5, 2014) – After a scoreless first half, the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs Mountain Lions burst for four goals in the second half en route to beating the Adams State University Grizzlies men's soccer team, 4-0.
ASU slips to 1-8 overall and 0-6 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) action.
Play was even in the opening stanza as UCCS held a slight 4-3 edge in shots while keepers Austin Baumeister and David Meyer of UCCS both record two saves apiece. Â Â
The pace of the game quickly changed after halftime as the Mountain Lions added two goals within the opening ten minutes of action. Cort Searls connect for his first goal of the season at 51:02 while James Roberts added his sixth goal at 54:28.
JR Calhoun made it 3-0 with a shot off a rebound at 78:09 while Josh Berntsson was responsible for the final goal at 84:14.
Matt Anderson was active on offense with four shots and one shot on goal. Teammates Erick Henrickson, Symon Fabbricatore, and Brady Freehill each put a shot on goal for ASU in defeat.
The Grizzlies return to the pitch on Oct. 10 to host Colorado School of Mines at 1:00 p.m.
