The Grizzlies took a 75-74 lead after a
Travante Williams layup with 2:22 remaining and expanded their advantage to three points after a pair of made free throws. Colorado Mesa quickly responded with a three-pointer from Julian Vasquez to knot the game up at 77-77.
From there, Smith took control of the Grizzly offense by contributing five points in the final 51 seconds of play. Although Smith's efforts kept ASU with a small lead, Vasquez connected on another three-pointer with 10 seconds remaining to move Mesa ahead, 82-81.
